Parade Hotel - Durban

Staff @ Parade are very friendly, stone throw away from the beach, nice view of the beach which gives you fresh air.

I would have expected a better tv set (flat screen). There was no telephone on the room and had to make unnecessary trip to reception to request for soap that was mistakenly not put. My room shower was not adjustable and although I reported but the matter to the hotel could not do any thing until after my stay (Monday).

The location was good.The breakfast was good and staff was very helpfull

An aircon would be nice and small bar fridge to keep your water and drinks cold.

Got into durban around 9 am and staff was courteous and told me room was not ready. Since I had a few things to tke care of... Went on to do my business and came back in evening to check in,.all was okay. View nice room location also nice..but but... Pillow and bed very comfortable..even though I would have preferred one double or queen bed since I was alone. I was in room 502. amenities were ok,

Carpet in room very dirty..appears that had not been cleaned and vacuumed in days....couch had not been moved and all corners of room on railing were full of dust... Bathroom floor tiles dirty... A big opening when looking at the wall in the bath tub ...could house many rats and other insects inside not knowing where it leads to.... This wide opening of about 1.5meters wide could be closed off. The door locks are poor flush doors locks. A simple deadbolt lock would suffice and change the visual in and out of the room. Some electrical panels were closed off with smaller than normal covers and towel hanger next to face wash basin is not properly fixed tothe wall(its coming off) floor under the sink is also dirty. You know what is disappointing - you have this wonderful property that could be so cosy and nice but the basics are not being complied with>>>cleanliness and appearance..... Sad but true... Am sure management knows about it.... Sorry...i have traveled to 68 countries to access hotels and guest houses... Very disappointed in upkeep of this facility.

the old lady receptionist and the manager bongani were great the fact that every day you could see the effort made by the cleaning staff

my online booking had not been recorded, when i arrived i had to negotiate my nights stay, the next morning i received an email saying they could not accomodate me, thanks to bongani and the receiptionist it was sorted, and my 7nights stay sorted. the same night i asked the night security guard to come sort out the safe that was jammed, im still waiting! the night security in short is terrible, you feel guilty everytime he opens the door for you. the one night the lift was damaged, no help was offered to assist me with my bags to the 5th floor, all i got was a sinical laugh. the carpets are terrible, i had no water one morning and was delayed for meetings.

The location and view was perfect and the service very professional and supportive. It was real value for money.

Love the architecture of the old hotel!

I would like appreciate the service we received from your Hotel most especially the staff in receiption,guys keep it up.i 'm sorry to say this, guys we blacks normally not treat each other with respect,but to you guys i learned something differ from that. may mighty God bless you and gives you strenght and also encourage you to work more harder.

Central and close to everything

No hot water in shower or basin, had to boil water in the kettle to wash myself. Again!!! This is about the third time this happened!!!

It is so close to the beach. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

There is no bar fridge in rooms and telephone to communicate with the reciptioninst or to call for help.

The breakfast was great and the hotel staff know the area very well. My daughter says the hotel staff is friendly and I agree. Some of the rooms are being renovated and it looks fanstastic. It had a great stay indeed and I have already recommended the hotel to two of my friends.

However I beleive the hotel staff should warn visitors about the criminal activities that takes place on the beach and surrounding areas.
